Justin,

In the recent days I have been polling my friends after the contract information came out. 100% of them were going to buy the iphone 3g the day it was announced. Fast forward a month later 100% will not be getting the new one.

AT&T really shot themselves in the foot with this one. More and more companies are trying to nikel and dime their consumers. It is most apparent in the airline industry with the latest announcements of charging more for a certain seat (aisle or window) and also for baggage (even just one bag checked at some airlines causes a charge).

Back to the iphone, watch the videos that AT&T has put up on their site "to prepare" us. Quite comical. In those videos they say "be ready for the experience to take at least 30 minuts". We have come really far in a year (walk in the apple store and walk out with a phone, to this) unfortunately it is in the wrong direction.

I'm thinking I'll be keeping mine too. I'm not thrilled about having to pay more to get the same level of service I have now. I may change my mind once they've been released, but for now I'm in the I'll keep what I got and not spend more money camp.

It is nice to actually read something about this that is pro-consumer. Really not happy where AT&T has taken this beast. I was all ready to buy one during the announcement weeks ago, now I am pretty sure I will just keep what I have. I guess it could be worse, we could be dealing with Rogers.

I think I'm going to hold on to my old one for a while. I don't see a need to upgrade, other than speed. My current iPhone does what I need it to do. I guess I won't be as cool as the other cool cats, but I'll still have the features I have come to love so much in what will soon be the old and busted model. If I see that the 3G is adding $200 in value, then I'll pay the cash.
